Summer plant for a large feature pot

Carole10Carole10 Posts: 4

Hi,

I have a very large terracotta pot set against my neighbours dark brown fence, which I filled with 20 Orange tulips for the Spring, and a great show they were.

Anyway, I want to put tall plants in for a long flowering period over the Summer and perhaps into early Autumn or perhaps a change in the Autumn.

Any suggestions gratefully accepted - my colour pallet is white & orange for this section of the garden.

Thanks

Canna 'Pretoria' would be a bold feature plant, if you can get it.

Great idea, and will look good against the dark fence, I'll start my search ?

Good luck! Desert to Jungle has it, bit expensive but it'll come back and you'll be able to divide it and make new plants. http://www.deserttojungle.com/products/canna-pretoria/197/

Or a dahlia - 'Happy Halloween' is a knockout colour

  • A carex testacea, with its bronze/coppery leaves, with some geum Totally Tangerine growing through it, would look fab too.

I've planted some butterfly weed (Asclepias Tuberosa) this year.  Should look pretty good in the middle of a feature pot and attract some butterflies too.  It might be one for next year if you have to seed it, though, unless you're quick!
