Wilting wisteria

Hi, my wisteria which has happily flowered for the last 5 years since planting this year after coming into bloom has shrivelled up and looks wilted, I don't know if this was caused by the late frost last week or could it be something else, their are no visible leaves which would normally come after the flowers.  What should I do??

I think it is most likely to be frost damage, not much you can do, it should make some new growth by itself. After it has made new growth the shrivelled bits should dry up and fall off, but if you don't like the look of it you can tidy it up at that stage.

Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.

    Hi Busy Lizzy,

My whisteria has flowered every year, unfortunately this year it was caught by a very cold frost.

I was so surprised as this has never happened before.

i don't think I can stand to look at shrivelled flowers and leaves for much longer.

there are new flowers growing further down but the shrivelled top looks very sad.

Do you know just how much I should prune off off each stem or do I just go back to a bud.

Im not expecting the damaged stems to re flower but I do need to tidy it .

    any advice is welcome

Just follow BL's advice Bev -  and take the dead growth off. You probably could go back to the next 'joint' depending on how far that is. It's part and parcel of gardening unfortunately!

You seem to have a lot of other planting nearby Bev. That won't help matters as they're all competing for moisture and nutrients. Wisterias get very big...
