Plant Suggestion

Dave HumbyDave Humby Posts: 1,145

This small courtyard area gets nice sun from early afternoon through to the evening. I have a bed with Euonymus, Jasmine, Pieris, Rhody and Vinca Major.

I have a space between the Pieris and Rhody which I did have heather in but they didn't like it so I did away with them. Any suggestions for something that might go in the space. Some all year interest would be nice although it's not much of a space so maybe some ground cover or maybe I should just leave as is?

I would be tempted to sit a large pot in there, (not too tall) and have spring flowers/bulbs followed by some summer annuals. this would give you year round interest.

If Pieris & Rhodos are happy, then what about a Camellia? Flowers early March-April. Mine is quite upright & would fit in there perfectly.

I'd go Geranium 'Rozanne' (3 plants to fill the area) with an underplanting of miniature Narcissus. Maybe a nice fern like Polystichum setiferum.
