cobnut problems
We have a purple cobnut which is now 17 years old - a christening gift when our second son was born. In preping the garden today I've noticed that there are a few dozen small round-ish brown 'casings' on some of the branches. When squeezed they exude a yellowy puss like substance. I'm concerned that they may be something that is going to hatch. I've no idea what they could be - any thoughts and how do i get rid of them?

That's them - thanks very much. It's a fairly light infestation so should be able to deal with it fairly easily.
