My flowers are coming out of the soil

hi all,my outdoor flowers are doing something strange - it seems like as if their roots are coming out of the soil, and whn I touch it turns out to be just lying on top of the soil rather then being inside, like it's falling out of the soil. Any idea why? Images attached

    Hi Ariadna, it could be that the roots are rotting off.  This can happen if there isn't enough drainage.  I can see that you have lined the basket with plastic - did you make holes in the bottom for excess water to drain away?

    A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.

    If it isn't wet soil causing the roots to rot, it could be something eating the roots.
