Turf killing drought!
Hi everyone, I am sure that my story is a fairly common one, but not in April!! I live in a new build, the house front faces north and back garden south.
I thought that having turf laid in March was a safe bet for getting it settled before the warmer weather. How wrong was I!? We have had no rain in east Kent bar a few spots for over a month and my poor back garden is looking worse for wear. I have been out after sundown watering the new turf but the parts that are most exposed to the sun are starting to turn brown and the edges are not rooting into the soil. It seems that now the water is just sitting on the top of the turfs where they are so dry and not really getting through to the underneath properly.
1 will my turf survive if I just keep watering it daily?
2 should I use something to make holes in the turf to help water to drain through it?
3 if the turf has already gone brown and lifted in the corners can it be salvaged?
All advice very much appreciated
Emily

In a really dry summer turf goes very brown, but always recovers as soon as we have rain - which we always do!! Have faith.
