I'd cut it down a bit and give it a chance to thicken up. However, Bowles Mauve doesn't last forever and it could be your plant is getting to the end of its shelf life so, when you prune it, take some cuttings.
Thanks Ceres. It's a young un. I've not grown it before. The foliage is a nice clump with flower buds dotted about. I wasn't sure what to do with the older flowering stems.
I used to have one and did prune it throughout the season, as it started to look bedraggled. It was very happy with that treatment, got far too big for the place it was planted and had to go

They can get quite big but that is a bonus if you want to fill up the space. By all means take off the older flowering stems. You will stop the plant from making seeds and it will direct its energy into new flowers.....at least that is the theory.
