Never put salt on the soil. Vinegar will make them smell like a fish and chip shop and may damage their leaves but won't kill them.

Spray glyphosate weedkiller e.g. Roundup when they are actively growing and the weather is dry. Forget 'fast action' weedkillers. Have patience - they will start to die in a few weeks. If they are between plants you want to keep, you'll need to be very careful. For example you can use a piece of cardboard to shield other plants, or apply the glyphosate by spraying on your (rubber gloved) hand and grabbing the weeds, making sure they're wetted. Be prepared to see if they grow back and repeat the process.

If the neighbours don't control theirs, you'll need to prevent the roots coming in somehow.

Roundup should work if you are patient and thorough. It's not particularly harmful to pets, just keep them off for a couple of hours after spraying.

I have jungles either side of me but its rose suckers that is the problem for me..

I have got little Nettles coing up in one of my raised beds, they are an unwelcome wake up call.. Particularly when weeding bare handed lol..  I assumed it was in the compost I used to fill the raised beds as it is not a problem any where else in the garden..
