Papi Jo, that's an interesting article on glyphosate - thanks for posting it.
I only use glyphosate when there's no possibility of controlling weeds by hand, and never near food crops. My neighbours had a huge stand of Japanese knotweed next to our garden, when we moved in more than ten years ago. It was on a very steep slope and they didn't know what to do with it. I sprayed it with glyphosate every year in September, and it now has no top growth - though I'm pretty sure there are still viable roots deep down, so I'm keeping watch...
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
I used some Root Out (with neighbour's permission) to kill a sycamore very close to my garden, but actually in my neighbour's, a while ago. (Won't say how long ago, for obvious reasons... ) It works (sorry, worked - we're not allowed to use it now, however safe it is!) wonderfully on stumps, and, according to your "Allotment Garden" article, works for horsetail better than anything else.
They suggested buying it as a compost accelerator and tripping on your way to the compost heap.

Re Glyphosate and other weed killers no longer permitted.
This article is about Ammonium Sulphamate, What was "Rootout" root out and why it was banned in the UK.

I found the article and the folllowing discussion quite interesting.

It seems that the product can be used as a compost acellerator but not as a weed killer .
'You must have some bread with it me duck!'
Thanks for that, Iamweedy. Most interesting.
