Brunfelsia pauciflora
in Plants
I've bought one of these on the basis of reading it has a lovely fragrance and ca grow in semi shady spots (north facing small garden). does anyone have any advice on growing these? I am a bit worried that it won't be warm enough, I got it last month and have been keeping it outside (in the south) but little growth and lost a few leaves so far. i have planted it in a pot so it can be brought in in the winter (or at least kept in a sheltered corner by the house). tipsmgratefully received, have never seen one here so may be a bit ambitious (novice gardener!)

Brunfelsia is a common sight in the forests of SouthEast Brazil, where the winters are mild (though not warm). I'm afraid you have to keep the plant in a greenhouse until summer and then back in autumn. It is not a fussy shrub, though, but it certainly won't put up with outside British weather. Perhaps someone else has a different experience in your country (since the plant is out for sale there).
what I feared. I'd read it needs to be brought in in winter, but the spring has not been as warm as usual. Maybe I'll bring it in until there is a warm snap and hope for the best!
