How long should it take for delphinium plants to germinate?

    Hi there,

I found they germinated in about 2-4 weeks in the top of cold frame. The difficulty was growing them on. Out of seven seedlings, three grew to small plants then became slug food!!

I grow on heavy clay however despite a shed load of grit and slug deterrant they still got munched to nothing ?.

Hi Lynda, as Daisy says but pot them up in small pots when big enough to handle. Keep them away from slugs and snails. I'd grow them on, until you have good plants.

  • I kept mine free from slugs and snails by balancing the post on copper rings until they were big enough to fend for themselves.
