What is this plant?

My local club thinks this plant is edible Marshman’s lettuce, eaten by barge owners and found by canal sides because seeds were probably thrown on canal banks. However, I can’t find anything on the internet to corroborate any of this!
I would really appreciate opinions on what this plant is.
