Carex pendiula, Pendulous Sedge.
Gets huge and seeds everywhere
In the sticks near Peterborough
Carex pendula. A thug of the worst kind. We have not allowed it to grow here for over 20 years and still we get seedlings.
Not knowing what it was, I carefully (scratchily and sweatily
) dug one of these out from behind a pampas grass and planted it elsewhere. Whilst walking the dog I saw it everywhere and so dug it up realising it must have been "dropped" behind the pampas by birds!
I was picking out seedlings for years after from everywhere in the garden but I think it does favour shade.
Thank you everyone!!!! Xx
I saw this plant in a garden open day in Shropshire today. I think I once knew what it was but can't remember. Help please. It has thick fuzzy bronzy green leaves. Vague I know. (I must swich off that annoying date stamp!)

one of the ligularias?
In the sticks near Peterborough
Thank you. That looks like it might be. Where I saw it was not particularly damp but. I quite like the look of it.
It might be Britt Marie Crawford. there were a lot of images of ligularia on this Ballyrobert gardens site. It is but too early for any flowers which would help confirm the variety

I do like that but I am in danger of buying far too many plants that have very little actual green on their leaves. I love these dark green, bronze and red leaved plants.
