Etoile de Hollande Climbing Rose

I planted a EdH last year against a fence, tying into wires horizontally, and this year have quite a few buds that I'm pleased about. The ones that have opened the blooms seem to heavy for the branches and have no scent, is there a reason for this? Thanks for any info/advice.

It is a characteristic of Etoile de Holland that it has a drooping flower ... this works very well if grown over an arch or arbour ... perhaps not as good against a wall or fence.
It does have a glorious perfume but I find that most roses need warm sunny weather to give their best perfume.
I'm surprised you have blooms already this year ... how lovely

Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Shame about the drooping flower, didn't say on the descriptions, I would have gone for another one had I known. I live in SE London and yes I'm surprised by the early blooms, from what I've read should be more June time!
