Eranthis cilicica (one of the Winter Aconites)
I planted three Eranthis cilicica for this Spring which came up fine. I want to gather some seeds but am not sure if I've missed the seed pods or if they are still to come.
Can anybody familiar with these plants tell from this photograph what stage these are at - if the seed pods have been and burst and gone or if I should still be waiting for them to appear? I've been told to plant seeds right away when they are fresh - but all I'm seeing are the dying off petals and stamen - I think!!!
Many thanks.ii

The petals are falling off, the seed pods are forming in the middle, those green stand up bits. You can see the gone over droopy male bits in the front flower. It will be a while before they're ripe
In the sticks near Peterborough
Don't wait for them to turn brown though. Gently stroke the seed pods and if they open then take the seed while it is still pale coloured. Sow straight away, cover lightly and keep moist. Rodents love them so take care. they do not need any heat, just keeping moist.
nutcutlet and Berghill - thanks so much. Great news and advice. Will have to report back if I have success with this. x
