Unknown species growing in soil!! HELP!

I am currently growing chives as part of a major biology exploration. I planted the chives seeds nearly 2 weeks ago and only a few stalks have appeared.

I am growing them in top mix soil containing:

Sifted ground soil,
Peat Moss
Mushroom soil
Perlite, vermiculite
Pig and Chicken Manure

However, there are these grey plants with a sort of white flowering leaf at the top.

I think they are fungi but I need help determining what they are and how to get rid of them. Am I watering them too much?

Any help is appreciated.

Thank you!

They're small fungi feeding on the organic matter in you growing medium. They are turning the materials in the manure into a form which will be accessible by your plants' roots so all is good and there is no need to worry or try to get rid of them. It's all part of the normal process and they will not harm your chives.

When all the organic matter has been turned into a form accessible by plants the fungi will stop growing and disappear.

    Good luck with your studies.

As part of your biological exploration, look up the term SAPROPHYTE.

    You have a superb example.
