Overgrown garden
Hi all. New to this but I just can't find the answer anywhere online so I'm hoping to get some help from all you lovely people.
Iv got a crazy over grown garden. The previous tenants or owners must have used cheap membrane to cover the ground and lots of weed has grown thru. Like really big and thick roots. Membrane is torn in many places. It also has wood chipping all over the garden. At the moment I use a trimmer to cut thru but it's really difficult do go thru a big garden with a trimmer.
Can I use a lawn mower. Will the wood chipping and black membrane be a problem and damage it? Please help
I'm a tenant so can't do any major work. But I want it to be suitable for the kids to play in

Hi bitzy. I don't think it would be a good idea to use a lawn mower over bark chippings and membrane. Is there any chance that you could take up the membrane and get rid of it? How about having a word with the Landlord to see what you can and can't do in the garden. He/she might be happy to let you sort it all out. Sweep all the bark chippings up and keep them somewhere stacked and then take up the membrane to allow you to dig up the deep rooted weeds. The landlord might even be persuaded to provide a new membrane.
Just gotta get stuck in and get the weeds out, I don't think there's any short cuts I'm afraid
Thanks every1
