What's eating this black currant bush?

Hello, can anyone identify the pest that's been munching large chunks from the leaves of this little bush? (And advise on possible solution?)

I first noticed it yesterday so looked for caterpillars etc and put down some eggshells and pellets in case of slugs but there's def more chunks missing today...

The plant smells amazing so it's probably quite attractive to something, there are two enormous wood pigeons that peck around nearby (where my children sprinkle bird food). Could it be them?

(ignore the brown spots on the leaves-not a disease just splashed from where husband was staining the fence...)

thanks! ????

  • Ah ok, thanks-it will be a miracle if it survives as it's taken a lot of punishment (same one that got snapped in half...!)
