Rain is finally forecast this week here in Wicklow, Ireland for the first time in 4 weeks. But also frost and freezing temperatures at night. i don't know whether to be happy or sad. I'm in a sheltered area so i hope frost wont be too bad.

Haven't had any rain in weeks and the water butts are already nearly empty. Rain forecast for this afternoon but no sign of it yet.

We're in the window of 90% probability of heavy rain. So far I've seen perhaps 5 spotsimage

It is an inconvenient time of year to have very low rainfall though - when young plants are trying to get going. The cold snap coming this week has caused a back log in my little polytunnel - things I was hoping would be at least in the sheltered 'hardening off' bit are still inside and I've run out of room.

Last time we had a very dry spring we then had a really cold wet summer so I'm hoping that pattern doesn't repeat.

    See original post

I have the exact same problem really.. Lack of space in the GH...  Too cold to harden anything off and seeds planted direct into the soil are not germinating..

But you will probably get some rain cos 1.  I need to washthe car...and 2. I am going to the Sweeps Festival in Kent, so its bound to rain on my parade ...image

We have just had a little shower of rain image

Looks like we could get a bit more over the next couple of days as well,I just hope it is enough!

The thing is, we need a decent amount of rain as all my water butts are empty.

I have a couple of Blueberry bushes that need rain water as tap water is not good for plants in ericatious compost.
