Actinidia Mystery!

Last year our Actinidia kolomikta did not have a single white/pink tip on any of the leaves which were a boring green.

This year the lovely leaves are better than ever.

I looked online last year but could not find out why the variegation might have disappeared.

Now it's back I'm even more puzzled!

Anyone know why this might be?
