trailing begonias

I am growing on trailing begonias for hanging baskets, currently on and off the conservatory window sill. Leaves showing a bit brown around edges so I take them out of the sun but still not growing vigorously. Water when needed, what else can I do for them?

Are you growing these from corms carolle?  Have a little patience, begonias need a bit of warmth to get them going.  It's still to early to plant them outside anyway in my opinion, mine will go out in late May/early June, depending on the weather.

The brown leaves could be a little sun scorched if it's a south facing windowsill. You are right to move them when the sun is strong.

The little plugs take a while to get going, we have had some cold nights, I think they will be fine but keep them in the shade, too tender for direct sun just yet.

Gardening on the wild, windy west side of Dartmoor.

  • thank you will give them a little longer.
