Potting on tomatoes

Pete.8Pete.8 Posts: 11,340

I sowed my toms on 16 march and they're going in the g/house bed when it's warm enough, so 2-3 weeks hopefully.

They're in 3" pots atm and 6-8" tall and getting rootbound - should I repot until they're ready to go into their final positions?

Thanks

They say its good to plant them deeper each time you pot them on too.  You're way ahead of me - mine are lucky if they're 6-8 cm image

Thanks too chicky- I'll pot them on and keep them a bit cooler then hopefully get them planted into the border soon as the weather permits.

I'll get my tumbling tom and maskotka planted into their baskets and they can hang from the eaves for the time being

Some of my tomatoes have been in large pots in the greenhouse for about 3 weeks now and are a good foot high.  There are Marmande, Big Boy and Gardeners Delight.. The ones like Alicante were bought as plug plants and are in 4 inch pots to get a bit larger..    I am also growing Tumbler and Sungold and Roma.. But they are only just being pricked out now,,
