Errrrrm well i am a complete beginner i have potted the treee into and 18 cm pot put stones in bottom drainage but do i water it straight away ?

how big is the tree? 18cm sounds quite small for the pot.
Was the tree bare rooted or in a pot already?
But yes, you need to give it a good watering. to start with.
