What Wood ?

I want to grow plants in a 6 foot by 2 foot box about 2 foot deep

It is to go in a hospital garden and needs to be weather proof and "substantial "

The plants will hopefully stimulate the MH patients

? What wood should I use friends

Hopefully I can scavenge it from local skips

If you can source pallets, they would be ideal. Or 2nd hand scaffold boards. You can usually find those for next to nothing.

I used heavy duty  fencing timber for mine, which wasn't that expensive, from a builder's merchant.

It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

    Decking timber is also good.

A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.

I had these made to roughly the same dimensions as you require, but unless you can find some old decking then it's going to cost more that you are willing to want to pay, maybe you could as a local firm to donate the wood, seeing as though it's for a good cause.

That was my immediate thought too.  Any local companies who make fence panels or sheds may have off cuts they're willing to donate.
