Leaves on clematis

the young leaves of my clematis growing up an arch are being eaten, any ideas.

    I had problems like this. It turned out to be earwigs !!! You have to go out at night and check with a torch. Earwigs hide up in the nooks and crannies during the day and come out at night. I got a paintbrush and cleaned out all of the nooks and crannies and had no more problems.

    I had problems with ear wigs eating the flower petals but not the foliage, a concoction of olive oil & soy sauce caught the little buggers.

    When something ate mine it was a large snail, which I caught.

    Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.

    Snails are usually the culprit here too, BL.

    A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.
