Kiwi help!
in Fruit & veg
Hi all, I have a kiwi vine, I think it's Issai, that I planted a couple of years ago. It has done precisely nothing, just produced new leaves each year but not got any bigger. To be honest, I had all but forgotten about it. Just had a look and the the growing tip seemed to be dead at the top three inches to so, it just broke off when I touched it and was like a dead twig, dry and brittle. Any advice on how I can get this plant going this year? Thanks in advance. xxx

Pumpernickel. Are you sure you really want it. I grew one in a small greenhouse. It grew very tall and the branches were like honeysuckle twinning everywhere. Issaii variety produced loads of small fruitlet's which dropped off before ripe. Maybe it is not as self fertile as we are told. Dug it up as much as I could and it is still trying to grow back. If I wanted to have one I would put it somewhere warm, grow another variety with it and give it copious amounts of food. Yours sound as though it is too cold.
Hmmmmmmm point taken. Perhaps I need to wake up and smell the beans I could plant on that arch instead....???
Thank you ladies! xx
