New and in need of help with herbs!

Hi!

I'm brand new to the world of gardening and I'm looking for some advice on how much (or how little) the thin my Thyme seedlings out by. I don't want to over do it but equally don't want to leave too many in the pot.

I do have a pic but I couldn't work out how to attach it image

Thanks in advance image

Hi - to attach a photo, click on the camera icon on the top right of the message box, then double click on your photo, wait about 30seconds and your photo should appear.

To thin your seedlings you want to have enough room to remove them without doing too much damage to the roots, so thin to leave 1/2" or so between them - depending on their size

If you have a seed tray, or even a plastic food container (one with holes is best) you could prick some out to give them more room to grow. You can use an old knife tip or a plant label for this. Slide it down the side of the pot and very gently lift the seedlings until the comppost is loosened. Then lift them individualy, holding them by a leaf, not the stem, and replant them in the seed tray, spaced out evenly. Water them in gently and put the tray somewhere shady and sheltered for a few days till they have settled in. They can then be hardened off and left to grow to planting size.
