Pansis F1 Blue white

Hello,

I have been given a tray of six pansies, they are flowering and very much like these in colour:

There's limited info on the label that came with the plants. Are they annuals or perennials? What is the best way to look after them if they are perennials?

I have planted them in a large pot, on my patio.

Thanks all.

Agghh! Typo on pansies!

Pansies are perennial but are treated as annuals as they are easy enough to grow from seed. As long as you keep removing the dead heads on the pansies they will continue to flower. F1 means that they are hybrids and will not come true from any seed you may collect. They tend to get a little bit leggy in later seasons which is another reason why people tend not to bother keeping them.

  • Ahhh, thanks again Ladybird4.

Do you know when they will be worthy of the compost bin (season), as I will plant something else in the pot!

    Thank you image

They will keep going as long as you keep dead heading but will slow down when it gets frosty.

When you get fed up with them Mm. You'll want a change from those soon. They're a bit outclassed by other plants in summer and you'll find something you like more
