Broken roots off Rhubarb Timperley Early

Hello all!

I've had a Rhubarb Timperley Early that I bought in a large pot a few weeks ago.  I finally got round to putting it in the garden this morning.  It was completely pot bound (I didn't realise) and trying to get it out of the pot I broke it off.

There were probably only a couple of centimetres of roots left on it, I've still put it in the garden though.  Is there any chance it will still grow, or have I killed it??

Many thanks in advance!

    Ah that's a relief!

The broken roots might well grow as well so plant them also.

Agree, plant both the roots and the broken off top.  Hopefully one will grow.

A tip for you, Sandra - if something is hard to remove from a plastic pot, cut the pot off - new pots are a lot cheaper than new plants!  image

A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.

Indeed it is, pansyface!  I too have been guilty of ending up with stems in one hand and a pot of roots in the other!  image

    Thanks all!

Yes I'll bear that in mind in future Bob.
