Salvia Amistad

Hello Everyone, last summer I bought 3 salvia amistad , they were so magnificent and lasted right up until the first frost. In March, i cut them down to just above my ankle. They were very woody and had no signs of green. There is no sign of life at all, do you think they're dead ?? TIA

I'd be patient a while.  Mine is in a pot - leaving present form a gardening friend - and only started showing shoots from the base a couple of weeks ago.  It's in a sheltered, south facing spot and our last frost was weeks ago and we've had warm spells.  The pineapple sage is only a week or so ahead and some locally bought ones planted in the ground are only just showing buds.

I bought 3 last year too and they were magnificent and made such a statement in the garden. I overwintered mine in the garage and planted out again a few weeks ago when they had a couple of new shoots showing. The shoots have gone ( eaten I think) so am waiting anxiously for them wake up and dazzle me again this year. Fingers crossed for us both!

  • Let's hope . Good luck
