Recently moved to a new house and found two shrubs badly neglected as the suckers have never been pruned and the shrub has large side branches with no variegation at all. If I saw the limbs off can I save the shrub or will I kill it?

Not unusual for it to do this.

Cut off the non variegated branches.

Then give it a feed to encourage strong new growth and remove any that isn't variegated a sthis is much more vigorous and will deprive the more ornamental stems of nutrients and energy.
