Using shredded ivy

I have just shredded a large amount of ancient ivy and was wondering if i could use it to cover a concrete footpath?

You could, but I am not sure why you would want to.

One of three things may happen.  Either it will be slippery under foot, or it will dry out and blow everywhere, or small pieces will reroot where they contact bare earth.  I wouldn't use it or put it into compost heap.

    Dried ivy burns really well.

Personally, I do compost shredded ivy but I'm lucky in that my shredder cuts things very finely and my compost bins get pretty hot.

A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.
