Willow tree and sceptic tank

I planted an approximately 1.70m high willow tree(bought from a nursery) last spring close to around 3 metres away from a sceptic tank.

I then later heard from someone that I need to move the tree 10metres away from the tank. As the tree will eventually extend its roots close to the tank to take up water and block the pipelines.

What should I do now? It is going to happen if I do not move the tree?

Thank you very much for any professional tips.

Move it now as far away as possible - more than 10metres if poss.  If not, find it a new home.

Willow roots are notorious for seeking out water and will penetrate sewer pipes, water mains and septic tanks in their search.  As Pansy says, it could be very expensive and very unpleasant.
