Will this survive a hard prune?

We've had to move this shrub to make way for an area of decking. I don't think it has ever been pruned and is not a great shape.
Please can you tell me what it is called and whether it will survive if I prune it to a neater frame work?

looks like spiraea gold flame, or similar, and yes, it will take a hard pruning. Do it now though. and get it back in the ground with a good feed.
Cut it back every spring to keep it in good shape.
