Got  this one last year. I think  it will have magenta  flowers.

I've had these for years. Aromatic leaves smell  like patchouli.  Are there any more  of this type?

GERANIUM  QUESTION :

What is the name of the pink  geranium  thug with deep roots and a dark spot in the middle  of the leaves. (Don't  want  to  buy  this oneimage)

Finally, the weed

The middle two are G. macrorrhizum.

I'm not aware of any thuggish geraniums really... G. phaeum and G. oxonianum certainly spread themselves around but it's easy to keep on top of them (and they're handy for gap-filling).

This one isn't handy to keep on top of . It gets everywhere. Neighbour planted it as ground cover years ago. Well post a pic  of one.

Thanks for id of the two. Will look out for similar.

First one looks like G. sanguineum., also comes in pink and white versions.

The other two are forms of G. macrorrhizum - there is a paler pink one as well.

The weed is, I think, Nipplewort, has tiny yellow dandelion type flowers. Not really very garden worthy, but I think the seed heads are pretty in winter.image

Not sure which is your thug. The phaeum types have dark centred leaves, but don't come in pink, G. endressii can be a thug, but has plain green leaves. Even some little ones can be quite thuggish - I have an alpine type one (G. ciereum Ballerina, I believe) which has taken over all of a trough and is now taking over the rockery! The dark pink Macrorhizzum is quite a ground coverer too, but usually I am so grateful to them for being easy to grow here that I put up with itimage

B3, look on Longacre Plants for Shade site and you will be able to identify a multitude of geraniums and their growth habits.

It's  not in flower  at the moment  but they are  similar  maybe  a bit lighter  than the one  above.

A mature  plant has vertical  roots that can be a foot  or more  deep.

Smaller  leaves  in bottom  picture  belong to a different  plant  -Cambridgensis ,I think.

Can't find it Joyce. Maybe it's not a geranium, but it certainly looks like one.
