Which flower/plant to use?
I have this and I want to put a nice simple plant in it that has nice big white petals!
As you can tell I am an absolute beginner that has no clue how to go about gardening! I'm okay with this as I have to start somewhere so I thought this little project would be a good starter and hope that you can really help me understand how to go about this.
First off, my idea of nice big white petals is just that, my 'beginners' idea. I'm wanting to keep an overall simple contemporary look in the garden. I've just had the patio and lawn (already got help from you guys regarding that) done.
I don't know what is possible such as:
Do or can I buy a plant already grown from stores like B&Q or Homebase?
Can I plant only certain ones at this time of year where I'm already too late to plant some nicer ones?
Are there plants for this that flower all year round?
Will the vine (sorry, don't what's called) already planted in there suffer if another plant is put in there?
How do I actually plant or seed!?
I may have put too many questions in here so I'm not expecting them all to be answered but thought it would give you an idea what my thought process is like towards this!
So in short, if you could recommend which plant would like nice in there then I would really appreciate it.
In the meantime I will do a bit of research to get a better understanding of what's involved and possible.
Thanks you so much.

You can plant anything from a pot to the ground now as long as you don't let it dry out, or drown it, through the summer.
If you chose something like white petunias they would give you a long flowering season,
B&Q etc are fine for those sort of plants
Nothing flowers all year, but you can replant with something else when they're over.

Thank you very much, I've heard of many names before like petunias but never put a face to them!
They look really nice and I think just what I had in mind.
How many of these would you say I need (if you can tell by the photo) or do they come in various sizes?
Thanks again.
Three petunias would be plenty. They often come in little packs of six but you could plant the left over ones in a pot of compost.
When the flowers begin to die and turn brown nip them off and that will encourage the plant to keep flowering for longer.
Let us know how they get on

I don't know where you are in the country, Gn0me, but if I were planting petunias here in west Yorks I would have to cover them up if frost was forecast, for a few weeks. The internet will tell you when frosts finish in your area. You can just use a few sheets of newspaper, and remove them the next morning.
Excellent!
Thanks again, especially for the link. I hope to get some from B&Q over the Easter period if they have any decent ones. Any tips for picking the right ones?
I must say, I don't know how vital certain factors are but after a bit of reading I get the feeling that if I make one mistake then everything dies!
I'm wondering if they will get enough sun (east is to the right of the picture and the house is about just 1.5 metres to the left!) and if the soil is right (I'm in Hornchurch, Esses area). I think I'm okay now for the frost factor but I'll try to look that up.
