Micanthus Gold Bar
in Plants
Can anyone tell me how to get the gold bars back on my newish (6 months) Micanthus? It looked great at the GC, but the new spring growth is devoid of gold bars.

its not a plant I grow but my understanding is that the gold colouring appears in warmer weather

You may well be right Dove - I would assume it had been grown in a greenhouse prior to arriving at the GC, that may be the reason. I have had it standing outside to acclimatize for a few months now. It could be a case of wait and see.
The new growth on mine never has the stripes, they don't show up until around the end of May! It looks best in late summer.
So that is something nice to look forward to - thanks autumnglory. I have never grown one before, but the gold stripes sold it to me - it is "different" and the late summer sun will pick up the colour nicely.
