Itea ilicifolia
in Plants
Does anyone have experience of growing this beautiful plant? I have looked it up and it seems to like warmer climates-and we are east Scotland ????. There is one in the botanics in Edinburgh and it's stunning-but then, there's the botanical garden pros, and there's me... (keen but pretty clueless)
Essentially we are looking for evergreen fence cover, this seems like the dream option but maybe I should choose something hardier... any suggestions welcome!
Thanks

This one's on my radar too, so interested to hear about people's experience with it! (Although I'm in Nottingham, south-facing wall/fence surrounded by buildings so suspect hardiness won't be as much of an issue).
It is beautiful. Can't find it anywhere so that could also be a problem...
These guys have it...http://www.bluebellnursery.com/catalogue/trees/Itea
Nothing ventured - as they say Elspeth!
I think if you can give it a sheltered spot, it should be ok.
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Haha, no excuses now! I love it, it would be on a south facing fence next to green house so reasonably sheltered. Thanks!
Ok, just placed an order for one
From kelways nursery-couldn't figure out the bluebell website. Will let you know how I get on WillDB...
