Thanks chaps. I didn't do mine last year and it was practically horizontal!
No problem B3, see how it goes, if it gets too leggy then do the chelsea chop, you'll know if it's necessary.
It will encourage side shoots but delay flowers for 4-6 weeks more. However, you'll probably get more of them as a result

I don't mind the delay. It's good to have a bit of colour in late summer.
