Seedling Clumps

I might have been a bit to generous with sprinkling lobelia seeds in the cells. Can I still split them at this stage? I think the roots are quite entangled.

I think that is the normal way to grow Lobelia. Just plant the whole clumps.

Do you think they're not too many per clump? That's what I really meant. I was wondering if I should have smaller clumps rather: 5 or 10 per clump.

I used to sow mine in big clumps like that, then would get fed up with them as they grew into huge plants, so now I split them to about 6 or 7 in a module.  I would divide those into two or even three, but its up to you, try it for this year see what you think.

Hi, Lyn. I would rather divide them as well, but do you think it can still be done safely?

Absolutely no problem, I'm still pricking out mine.

like you, I used to put a pinch in a module but then found it was always too much, so now grow it in trays, if you've got to prick out anyway, you may as well do it soon as last.  Be gentle with teasing them apart, but it will be fine.

Thank you, Lyn. It's on my list for tomorrow.
