Fungus?

Could anyone please help to ID? - they have appeared in their dozens (for the first time in the 9 years we've lived here) through the gravel at the front of the house.  When tapped, the cap(?) at the top releases a fine dusting of spores.

Unfortunately, it's horsetail.  Pull them all up, bag and dispose in your black bin.  It's very difficult to eradicate:

A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.
  • That'll be why a few hours Googling 'fungus and mushrooms' didn't give me an answer!  Thank you so much for replying.  I have no idea why I have never noticed it in this peculiar looking stage because I either spray or pull out the blasted stuff (when it's green) all summer long.
