Tomato Leaf problem - not blight??
in Fruit & veg
Hi all. I've grown tomatoes for years without problem (except blight like us all). This doesn't look like blight as I'm used to. I got myself a nice new cedar greenhouse two years ago and ever since, I've been having odd problems with the toms! See the attached photo. I've bought healthy seedlings from my garden centre in March, and planted into a mixture of sieved topsoil and multi multi-purpose compost. However, for two years running, the leaves have quickly developed these odd marks. It looks like chemical burn - but no chemicals are involved! The greenhouse is half boarded at the bottom so no direct sunlight - but could this be sunburn?? Help GRATEFULLY received! Thanks.

It looks like sunburn to me
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Me too. It's best to assiduously avoid getting water on tomato leaves as it can cause this. As well as the droplets acting like little magnifying lenses, they help fungal spores to take hold and cause infection, something which tomatoes are very prone to.
Thanks folks. My work takes me away from home for short stretches so I have an auto dripper system to keep the watering up and I'm careful to keep it off the leaves so even more surprised. It's great to have some confirmatory views, though. I suspected sunburn but everything seemed logically against it. But, if 'logic' is the order of the day, I guess the logical thing is to get some shade netting and see how we go! Appreciate the time for replies.
