Hello all, how easy would it be to move an established agave. There's two of them, lovely grey/blue and about 2ft high and wide. Apart from the spikes are they difficult to move ie. deep-rooted or anything?
Don't know about how deep-rooted they are but use the same principles as in moving any established plant. Take as big a rootball with it as you can, dig the hole it is going into first, then dig up the plant. Firm it in and water well. Water it for the next few months if you have a dry spell. Make sure that its new home is free draining,. Personally I would put some grit into the bottom of the new hole.
And watch out for the spines!

Thanks hogweed. I've not moved an agave before, it's bad enough weeding around it. I just wondered how deep the roots were likely to be really and if they had any special requirements. Thanks for your advice.
