Plant ID please

Can anyone tell me what this plant is? I've got two next to a hollyhock that was planted by the previous house owner. Any ideas?

    Looks like Celandine to me.
    If it is, dig it up and make sure you get the tiny brown blublets out too - it's spreads like mad.
    It does have pretty yellow flowers, but it's very difficult to get rid of as it seeds ad spreads very quickly.

    If it's not Celandine then ignore the above ;)

    Maybe a bit too big for Celandine? It looks like an Eryngium to me.

    That is definitely an Eryngium, Sea Holly.

    My Eryngium Alpinum is wonderful but a dreadful self seeder.  I'll be cutting off the flowers just before it goes to seed.
