Feeding Strawberries
in Fruit & veg
I have recently repotted my strawberries in fresh compost with some added Q4 fertiliser. I noted the RHS also advise feeding with weak tomato feed every 1-2 weeks in the 'growing season'. They seemed to have settled after repotting and putting out new growth. Should I start the liquid feeds now? im anxious for a decent crop to prove my husband wrong that it's not a 'waste of time' growing them ????

Go for it. Don't overdo it though or you'll convince your husband that he's right if you end up with no strawberries. Where are you growing them?
I have grown my Strawberry's in pots for years and do the same, There will be enough goodness in the compost to bring the plant growth then as soon as they have blossomed and the tiny fruit bud shows start to feed. A weak mixture is all that is needed once a week but more need of the plants watered but not soaked.
Frank.
I have some Mara des Bois in window boxes inside my greenhouse, just starting to flower, but as they are in their first year in the troughs and quite well spaced, I don't intend to feed just yet, maybe when the fruit begins to show. For now as it's cold outside, I will have to do my best Bee impersonation with a paint brush.
