Want privacy all year round with a burst of colour

im totally new to the green fingered world so please take pity - we need your advice! We have a long front garden with a 3 foot brick wall that runs the width of our garden dividing it from the main road. Our house sits at the bottom of our 20 ft drive and drivers will conk down the length of our garden when the traffic is heavy and I'm sick of it!

Please could you recommend evergreen plants that I can grow in wooden troughs our side of the wall, that will grow to a decent height to create a dense screen all year round, give us some beautiful colour and lots privacy! We're moving in 2 years hence we want to grow in troughs ideally so we can take them with us.
