Gooseberry sucker

I have a sucker growing from my gooseberry.  I don't want it as the gooseberry should be growing on a leg but I wondered should I pull it away rather than cutting it off (like you pull with rose suckers).  And then is it worth trying to grow a cutting from it or will that take years to fruit? Many thanks

I took cuttings from my gooseberry two years ago - they're forming fruit now.

Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.

Oh wow, that's that then, I'm going out with a sharp knife. Thanks Dove.
