Pond liner

Hi, our pond is 4 years old, c26m diameter.
I made some errors in the design, primarily not doing the inverted egg shape (with a small shelf all the way around). I have some shelves on one side but very deep and a large slope at one end for wildlife to enter/exit safely. So problem is I can't seem to hide the liner. I tried pheasants tail grasses but they didn't really hide it. Also I'm finding they're more short lived than I expected and after cutting back hard last year I think this year they'll have to go or will die off themselves (all 70 of them!),
So having tinkered and put this off I'll def need to address the liner problem this year.
See pics, the liner edge is slightly humped to keep the water in so laying slabs around aren't feasible and I'd prefer a natural look. I'd hoped to grow the lawn to the water edge but it won't grow over the liner and I'm guessing turf won't work as there'll not be the soil underneath (just the liner).
Any tips or suggestions for year round cover of the liner greatly appreciated. Perhaps evergreen very low growing grasses? Or tips to get (lawn) grass there. The pheasants tails shot up high so I'm reluctant to get grasses again unless I know they'll hug the ground.
I'm even wondering about some kind of gravel mat which I think someone mentioned here on the forum before.
Soil is flint/chalk although weirdly a bit clay like in structure by the pond.
thanks

Found a website with some ideas:- http://www.naturagart.co.uk/naturagart/naturagart/naturagart-shore-mats.html
Is this the sort of thing you were thinking of?
I think there is also some sort of gravel mat that you can trim to shape and the 'gravelly' bit hags down into the water.
Try placing hessian sacks (sandbag ones are ideal as they'r easily moved even when small) full of clay around parts of the edge,in the water and plant them up as you would a tomato growbag. That's how I've often done ponds where the shelves are sloping and pots won't stand up for long. The plants soon take off, I promise and will fill out to cover the edge easily.
Suggest;- Caltha palustris, veronica beccabunga, myosotis scorpioides, menyanthes trifoliatala, typha minima, iris pseudacorus (and the variegated form).

I have bergenias growing by edge of pond, the leaves are large so they cover the plastic.
Hi all, thanks very much for the tips, had a very busy day in the garden and exhausted (spring weeding..!), so will have a look in detail shortly!
