Slate sculpture

Has anyone had any experience of building a slate sculpture for the garden? My roof is being reslated next month and as the cottage is well over a hundred years, I thought it would be nice to build something for the garden out of the old slate. Not a seat, or a path or a wall, but a pointy sculpture about 5 ft high and roughly a cone type shape.
Am I totally off my head or do you think this is possible??

I have no experience hogweed but think it is a great idea and would love to hear how you get on.
i googled the idea in images and such sculpture would look lovely in amongst your garden.
try looking on you tube for how to actually build. I'm guessing if you are confident with a drill, have a special tile cutter drill bit you will be away ?
check out Andy Goldsworthy's work.

I'd like one of those!
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
AG work is fab but a) I can't afford him and b) I will be using house slate and not specially cut slate! I may do a trial with to scale pieces of Lino. May be the time to buy shares in b&q because I intend to glue the whole slate sculpture together with a combination of hard as nails and mortar. That's June s project sorted.
