Plants for planters

Ree2Ree2 Posts: 31

Hello all,

I have a couple of large planters by my front door and want to get a nice display in, however it only gets a couple hours sun a day, which would be good for shade-loving plants except it's in the middle of the day when the sun's at it's peak and hottest.

Any ideas for plants that would be happy in those conditions?

Tell me more about what you want to do. What planters do you have?

    Hi Dmitri,

I have a couple of wooden planters 40cm x 40cm (so not actually large I guess), and I'd like to plant them up with some perrenials, something with interest and flowers - a mixture of plants, so far what I've looked at (ferns, Jack frost etc) that don't need much light, aren't so happy in the hottest part of the day.

Aquilegia's, foxgloves, dicentra, fuchsias, tiarella, heuchera, certain hardy geraniums, spring bulbs, japanese anemones. Any woodland plant etc.

Grow while ferns, hardy plants. For example, juniper or berries. They require shady places, withstand more harsh mountain climate as the juniper. Good luck!
